The Next Crazy Venture Beneath the Skies

0 notes

Sunshowers.

I tried to go for a walk today at lunch. Actually, I suceeded. If you asked my coworkers, they would probably tell you I also suceeded at taking a shower or a swim somewhere along the way.

It was sunny when I left the lab. I walked towards the downtown “main street” area, and it began to sprinkle. There were a couple of clouds, but overall it was sunny.

Then it began to pour.

Not just a drizzle or rain. An absolute DOWNPOUR.

Meanwhile, the sun was still shining.

I hurry back to the hall where I work, but of course by the time I get back it is no longer raining, still very sunny, and I am soaked through.

Thank you, North Carolina. Your weird weather never fails to bring a wry smile to my face.

Many classic horror icons and other disturbing creatures share common characteristics. Pale skin, dark, sunken eyes, elongated faces, sharp teeth, and the like. These images inspire horror and revulsion in many, and with good reason. The characteristics shared by these faces are imprinted in the human mind.
Many things frighten humans instinctively. The fear is natural, and does not need to be reinforced in order to terrify. The fears are species-wide, stemming from dark times in the past when lightning could mean the burning of your tree home, predators could be hiding in the dark, heights could make poor footing lethal, and a spider or snake bite could mean certain death.
The question you have to ask yourself is this:
What happened, deep in the hidden eras before history began, that could effect the entire human race so evenly as to give the entire species a deep, instinctual, and lasting fear of pale beings with dark, sunken eyes, razor sharp teeth, and elongated faces?

… Just be careful out there.

This is one of the coolest things I have ever read on tumblr.

This is possibly one of the coolest things I’ve ever read.

Isn’t that the girl from Die Antwoord though? Haaah

Okay now. Shut up. Some of us just happen to look like this after finals.
(No, I’m serious - pale skin, elongated face, sunken eyes… I had it all going on other than the sharp teeth…)

A polar bear smells a seal under the ice. Unfortunately for the bear, the ice is too thick. (Planet Earth Live - BBC)

At first I thought it was a polar bear successfully doing a somersault. Then I realized it was a polar bear failing at being a bear.

natalie…this is you.

Hahahaha it is me!!! :D
